Yoga Instructor Training
A well-qualified yoga teacher training program combines many different aspects of yoga and teaching to create a well-rounded, knowledgeable and skilled instructor. Some of these elements include anatomy, diet, asana, Indian philosophy, history, the ancient science of Ayurveda, and enlightenment. Course durations can be anywhere from one-month workshops to yearlong programs.
In the United States, there are as many yoga instructor training programs as there are styles of yoga. In choosing the right school, you should consider its qualifications, how the courses fit with your schedule, the tuition, and the style or styles of yoga you plan to teach. It's a good idea to investigate a few different schools before you decide where to enroll.
Combining the Right Elements in Yoga Instructor Training
At YogaWorks, we offer a multi-faceted approach from highly trained faculty with profound understanding of the power of yoga. We require at least one year of yoga practice before you are accepted into the program because you shouldn't be discovering yoga basics while you are learning to teach. We also require that one of our instructors recommends you to the program.
YogaWorks teacher training combines three strands of the Krishnamacharya lineage--Ashtanga, Iyengar and the teachings of Desikachar. This incorporates heat and flow, precise detailed instructions and posture modifications, so the practice fits the student. During our instructor training, you will also study Ayurveda, practice pranayama and meditation and learn about anatomy and physiology.
